This three-day training program teaches participants how to safely operate a mobile crane with a lifting capacity of up to 8 tons (16,000 lbs). It covers the key skills and knowledge needed to work safely with mobile cranes in different job environments. Participants will gain a understanding of: types of 0–8-ton mobile cranes, parts and components of a mobile crane, laws and safety regulations that apply to crane operation, common hazards and how to manage them, how to keep a mobile crane stable while lifting, how to inspect a crane before use, steps to safely set up the crane on a job site, basic rigging and load-handling techniques, clear and effective communication on site, how to create a lift plan and safe operating procedures and best practices. The program includes both classroom instruction and hands-on training using a mobile crane. By the end of the course, participants will be able to safely operate a 0–8-ton mobile crane. New operators are encouraged to work under the supervision of an experienced operator when starting out.
