When did you first join local 837 and how has it impacted your life?

I joined the Local about 15 years ago thank to my brother who was able to get me in. It has impacted my life in many ways but mainly it has allowed me to learn different trades and different aspects of this career that has not only helped me when working on job sites but also outside of work.

What inspired you to join local 837?

What inspired me to join the union was the fact that I could learn a lot of various skills, also there were many opportunities for me to grow and get better in my field of work.

Why do you think it is important to be part of a union?

The most important thing aside from the benefits it the protection that you have from the union, you have people fighting for you. You are also part of a brotherhood and part of something that truly is amazing.

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out in the trades?

The best advice that I could give to someone is to find something that you love and to always be grateful for the work that you are able to do.

What impact has local 837 had on your community?

The biggest thing is all the buildings that we are building here in downtown Hamilton, and for the work it is giving people and the impact it will have on the City as a whole. I have been here in Hamilton for a bunch of years now and there truly has been a great change and I am just glad to be part of it.
