This six-hour program is designed for those who perform, or supervise, traffic control and equipment signaling duties in road construction. Legal requirements of workplace parties will be discussed including information from Book 7 regarding work zone component areas and safe practices for setting up signs and devices. Participants will explore hazards workers may be exposed to and effective methods of controlling these hazards. Through a series of worksheets and practical activities, participants will practice three-way communication skills, directing traffic using the STOP/SLOW paddle, signaling equipment and setting up a portable traffic sign. Note: To ensure an optimal learning experience, it is recommended class sizes not exceed 12 participants. For those requiring an in-depth knowledge of Book 7, for example supervisors and lead hands, WHSC offers the OTM Book 7 course
