Construction Rigging and Hoisting (Fundamentals)
Day one of the “Fundamentals” course provides participants with basic training for rigging and hoisting operations. The one-day version consist of four modules. Successful completion prepares workers to assist qualified riggers by recognizing hazards and equipment limitations. Introduction to the equipment used for rigging and hoisting, their applications and limitations, common hitches and an introduction to basic knots. Participants will demonstrate hand signals, tying knots and rigging noncomplex loads for hoisting. The PowerPoint presentation contains embedded videos, activity instructions and emphasizes key content. Participants will engage in group discussion, complete activities in buzz groups and practicum demonstrations. Two days of training are required for workers responsible for rigging loads and not just assisting a rigger. Construction Rigging and Hoisting – Essentials is the fifth and final module of the two-day program. Module five is divided into three sessions.
