Confined Space Entry in Construction
This six-hour program provides confined space entry workers in the construction sector with the hazard recognition and other general training required under the regulation. This training, in conjunction with worksite specific training, will prepare entry workers with the knowledge and information required prior to entry into a confined space. The program is divided into two three-hour modules. The first module, Confined Space Hazards and the Law, addresses the requirements under the Regulations for a confined space entry program.
The components of a program, the rights and duties under the Act for workplace parties, including the right to refuse unsafe work, are discussed at length. As well, the atmospheric and safety hazards associated with confined spaces are identified. The second module, Confined Space Entry Procedures, identifies the control measures for confined space hazards and safe work procedures for confined space entry work.
Issues such as air testing, monitoring, and purging are discussed. General work procedures for PPE, communication, duties of attendants and use of entry permits are discussed as well as the use, maintenance and inspection of respirators and rescue operation considerations.
