Asbestos

Duration: 4 hours
PPE: Not Required

This program is designed for workers who may be exposed to the hazards of asbestos. This includes construction workers who are involved in the construction of new buildings or the demolition or renovation or repair of old buildings; maintenance and custodial workers in buildings such as schools, offices, and hospitals; and auto mechanics repairing brakes or clutches. The program focuses on the types and characteristics of asbestos fibers, how workers are exposed to asbestos, and the occupations at risk of exposure. The program also covers the routes of transmission and the health effects. Legislation is another important area covered in the program as well as a discussion on assessing asbestos hazards and methods of control. Participants will also learn strategies for implementing an effective action plan to identify, assess and control asbestos hazards in their workplace.
