DESCRIPTION:This six-hour program is designed for those who perform\, or su
 pervise\, traffic control and equipment signaling duties in road construct
 ion. Legal requirements of workplace parties will be discussed including i
 nformation from Book 7 regarding work zone component areas and safe practi
 ces for setting up signs and devices. Participants will explore hazards wo
 rkers may be exposed to and effective methods of controlling these hazards
 . Through a series of worksheets and practical activities\, participants w
 ill practice three-way communication skills\, directing traffic using the 
 STOP/SLOW paddle\, signaling equipment and setting up a portable traffic s
 ign. Note: To ensure an optimal learning experience\, it is recommended cl
 ass sizes not exceed 12 participants. For those requiring an in-depth know
 ledge of Book 7\, for example supervisors and lead hands\, WHSC offers the
