SUMMARY:Construction Health & Safety Awareness
DESCRIPTION:The Construction Health and Safety Awareness Training program w
 as designed to meet the Ministry of Labours standard for construction work
 ers.\n\nThis program is divided into four modules delivered over a minimum
  of six and a half hours. Both the content and timing is stated in the sta
 ndard.\n\nWHSC’s program is filled with activities and worksheets to bre
 ak up this content heavy program and ensure learning objectives are met. M
 odule one provides instruction on the legal framework and the role of work
 place parties. This module is delivered over 45 minutes. Participants will
  learn about the act and the construction regulations and go over the duti
 es of Constructors\, employers\, supervisors and workers. Participants wil
 l learn about the workers’ rights to know\, participate and refuse. In a
 ddition to the standardized content\, the WHSC’s program has a second se
 ssion that is optional. In this one hour session participants will learn h
 ow to read health and safety legislation\, learn and understand the intent
  behind certain words and punctuation. Participants will demonstrate their
  ability to locate specific content in the construction regulation while c
 ompleting a worksheet. This session will make the entire program seven and
  a half hours.\n\nModule two will cover hazard identification\, assessment
  and control. In this 45 minute module\, participants will learn what a ha
 zard is\, how to assess the hazard and how to apply the best control using
  the hierarchy of control. Participants will demonstrate controlling a haz
 ard in class using a worksheet and tools. This activity will also be rated
  by the effectiveness of the control used.\n\nModule three is delivered ov
 er two hours. This module called “Common Hazards and Conditions on Const
 ruction Projects” provides general information on common hazards found o
 n construction projects. Again workers will participate in classroom discu
 ssions and complete activities to confirm the learning objectives are met.
  Common hazards such as slip\, trips and falls\, access and egress\, house
 keeping\, environment\, elevating work platforms\, and confined spaces.\n\
 nModule four “Common High Hazards on Construction Projects”\, this mod
 ule is delivered over three hours. Participants will discuss common high h
 azards and their controls. High hazards such as electricity\, stored energ
 y\, heights\, mobile equipment and vehicles and excavations. Once program 
 is successfully completed\, participants will receive a record of training
 .
